The Rainbow School is run by a not for profit charitable Trust. Our Trustees are a group of dedicated and experienced professionals, business people and parents who support the school through their time and expertise, their sole aim is to see Rainbow School succeed and to build on this success.
Ofsted, the national body that inspects schools, have been placing increasing emphasis on strong governance as a key element in the effectiveness of a school. The Rainbow Trustees provide both challenge and support to the CEO and the Head Teacher, taking the role of a “critical friend”.

Asmi Darr – Chairperson
Asmi combines the running of a well-established local multicultural books and fashion ware distribution business with an avid interest in education and learning. He has made a huge contribution in developing the Rainbow vision and continues to work hard with fellow trustees to make Rainbow a huge success.
Shaukat Ali
Shaukat is a great believer in education and lifelong learning, beginning his career as a lecturer of Mathematics and IT. As a Business & Performance Consultant and a Staff Trainer, he has helped increase efficiencies within organisations throughout the UK, is currently working on a nationwide initiative with NHS England, to improve the performance of primary care practices. He is a father of four, who is busy nurturing curious minds, whilst trying to support the community and environments around them. He has a passion for coffee, Formula 1, continuous improvement and how technology can improve our lives.
Joseph Kormoh
Joseph has spent most of his life helping build the human resource capital of people through teaching; he has served as a school governor in very different environments in and out of the UK. Has teaching experience of over two decades in primary, secondary and university. He has built on this experience by his association with Media, Law and Community Project Planning.
As a former chair of board of governors of the Gateway Preparatory and Primary School, he hopes to make a great difference to Rainbow Schools Trust.
Ruby Bhatti OBE
Ruby is a highly successful Solicitor with over 20 years’ experience in the legal field. In addition, she has diverse experience of various Non-Executive Directorships in the fields of Social Housing, Social Enterprise, Health and Education. She is a National Leader of Governance, supporting other Chair’s and schools in the education field , she is Chair of Governors for four local schools, as well a panel member for Bradford Local Authority Education Appeals Admission Panel. Ruby is a non-executive director for both Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) and Dixons Academies Charitable Trust Ltd. Ruby is a Fellow for the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce), (FRSA) and a National Leader of Governance for Education (NLG) for Yorkshire and the Humber.
Michelle Khan
Michelle is a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with extensive skills of mentoring and counselling gained from travel and varied life experiences including stage and theatre. Michelle has an imaginative approach to counselling enabling her to break down barriers and create bonds with both groups and individuals inspiring them to overcome difficulties and resolve problems.
Taher Nawaz
Taher Nawaz MBA, FCA. A practicing chartered accountant specialising in forensic and investigation work. Has a keen interest in building capacity in the local communities, is a trustee/governor of a number of charities in the UK and overseas, including SKMT (Imran Khan Cancer Appeal), Zindagi Trust and Namal University.
Vaneeta Garg
Veeneta has one child at Rainbow. As a Mathematics lecturer at Bradford College, she feels well versed in some of the topical issues facing the Education sector. She can also comfortably relate to some of the behavioural issues arising in the class room and articulate parental concerns at the Trust. She also sees this an opportunity to meet and learn from others in the School community.
Salma Sharif
Dedicated. Efficient. Passionate Leader with 15 years successful proven track record in raising aspirations in young people. Providing positive learning experiences as well as building and maintaining effective behaviour management systems. Strong work ethic and outcomes driven. Had a scholarship to study specialist second degree working with young people alongside a diagnoses for Dyslexia.
Appointed Community Cohesion Lead in a large local secondary school; resulted in School being awarded National TES: Community Collaboration Award.
As an Anti-Bullying Lead – Led school to be awarded National Award – Diana Anti-Bullying Showcase Award. Experience Trainer of staff development around Behaviour, Pastoral and Team Teach. Has supported mediation between Community and stake holders. Has trained Key Stakeholders to deliver effective services to communities. Developed Restorative Justice Practices in dealing with sensitive topics within Communities.
