Spelling Competition

We are proud to announce we had our first Super Speller Competition this year at Rainbow. Well done to all the children who worked hard all year to learn their weekly spellings. We had three rounds in the competition and finally arrived at one overall winner from each year group. The winners won a trophy, prize and certificate. We now have a big trophy in school which will be updated with the winners’ names annually. Do YOU have what it takes to be a Super Speller next year?

Doe Park

Just a few photos from our adventures at Doe Park at the end of June. We had so much fun and got very wet out on the water. We challenged ourselves and faced our fears. It was higher than it looks.

Harden Primary School Visit

As the final part of our linking schools experience this year we went to Harden Primary School. We had lots of fun catching up with our friends, playing games and making miniature dens in their grounds- some worms and spiders soon found new homes- some with zip wires, swings and even washing lines. Very inventive ideas from a few twigs, leaves and a bit of string! We had fun and will miss our friends as we all move on to new classes.

Linking Schools

It was great fun on our second linking schools day. Harden Primary School paid us a visit here at Rainbow and we had a fun day making bunting and showing our teamwork to make a crisp container.

We met our friends again from the first day at Cartwright Hall- it was lovely to see them again but sad to see them go at the end f the day. We are looking forward to our next day when we visit them at Harden Primary School at the end of June.

Yorkshire Water

On Friday 12th May 2017 we went to visit Yorkshire Water- it wasn’t what we thought it was. It was all about where water comes from and what they do to make sure it is clean enough for us to drink.

We were surprised and how dirty the water is to start with but the time it is leaves Yorkshire Water it is clean and safe for us to drink.

Having Fun With Clay

Having fun with clay in Year 4, Nick Vujicic. We were Roman architects building aqueducts. It wasn’t as easy at looks.

Resident artist

Today we had lots of fun with our resident artist. First we sketched daffodils in our sketch books using pencil. Then, using templates, we made 3D daffodils which now hang in our classroom. We chose daffodils because we were working on Wordsworth’s daffodil poem in English.

Bradford Cathedral

Nick Vuijicic class visited Bradford Cathedral. We walked over straight after lunch and we were met at the door and shown to some seats in the middle of the church. We learnt about the building, the signs and symbols we could see in a church and what they mean. We also made a mosaic roundel. The Cathedral belongs to all the people who live in Bradford so anyone is welcome to visit.

World Book Day

World Book Day in Nick Vujicic Class- we had a fab time dressing up as book characters, even our teachers joined in, although not sure how much work Ms Whelan did while laid on the bean bags!

We made comic strips about characters, designed book covers and made some arty characters in the afternoon before finishing off the day with a dvd.
